Standard pattern: staggered round holes with 1–5% open area. Custom hole sizes, shapes, and densities available. The perforation pattern affects both vapor permeability and thermal reflectivity — higher open area means more breathability but less heat reflection. We can adjust based on your balance of breathability vs. insulation requirements.
Perforated foil allows water vapor to pass through while still reflecting the majority of radiant heat. This prevents condensation buildup inside walls and roofs. Solid foil is a complete vapor barrier with maximum reflectivity. Choose perforated when you need the assembly to ‘breathe’ — solid foil when you need a full moisture seal.
Yes. The perforated structure provides limited sound absorption when used as a facing over acoustic insulation. For dedicated acoustic applications requiring high NRC ratings, we can recommend alternative product configurations — contact our engineers with your acoustic targets.
Higher open area = more breathability but proportionally lower radiant heat reflection. Our standard 1–3% open area balances both. For maximum breathability (e.g., cold storage where condensation control is critical), we can increase open area. For maximum reflection, we recommend our solid (non-perforated) aluminum foil fabric instead.
Yes. We can laminate the perforated foil fabric with additional layers — fiberglass scrim for added tensile strength, kraft paper for rigidity, or PE film for additional moisture protection. These are custom orders; MOQ applies. Send us your multi-layer specification for a quote.
